Bodywork

To relieve chronic pain, restricted movement or physical tension and stress, Hayley's bodywork sessions incorporate a blend of techniques including Myofascial Release and Trigger Point Therapy, to address your individual needs. Bodywork is an excellent accompaniment to Pilates, enhancing the body's ability to stretch, lengthen, open and adapt to movement.

Treatments are normally 1 hour.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is the 3 dimensional web which covers all muscle (myo), including individual muscle fibres to the cellular-level, as well as organs, bones, tendons and ligaments. Myofascia gives our body form, holds and facilitates movement, supports our unique posture, transports information to all parts of our body and is integral to how we experience daily life. In healthy conditions, this network is relaxed and supple, enabling the body to move with ease.

Physical and emotional trauma, poor postural habits, and repetitive strain can cause the fascia to dehydrate and harden, resulting in pain, tension, and restricted movement. MFR treatment can feel like slow, deep lengthening and stretching through the layers of the body.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points are painful points or knots in a muscle formed by repetitive movements or poor postural habits. A protective mechanism, the trigger point is created by the body to prevent the overworked muscle going beyond its range, reducing stress and strain to a particular area.

Trigger points are characterised by patterns of referred pain, i.e. pain experienced in one area of the body is caused by a trigger point in a seemingly unrelated area. Treatment replenishes blood flow to the area and flushes the trigger point, in order to restore function to the affected area.
